John and John became best friends through their training and travels with gymnastics. They have combined their passion for the sport and their desire to give back to younger gymnasts by joining forces for Flip Fest.
What a busy weekend. John R and I worked the American Cup in Philadelphia to start things off. I hosted the competitions and John R worked for NBC. It was the first time the new rules were used in international competition. I think the change was okay and I feel like everyone began to understand the different looking scores. Basically a 14 or 15 is a good score. USA did great with Jonathan Horton winning for the men and Nastia Luikin winning for the women. After the meet was over we flew to Illinois for the March of Dimes meet we do every year with Randy Parrish. We got to hang out with some of our friends like Russ Berndt and Rebecca from Rising Stars, Michelle, Michelle, Justin, and Sandy from American Gymnastics, Brad Tubbs and Mandy from Dynamite, Aaron Tilton from Above the Bar Gymnastics, Jenny Powers from Gymnastics Etc., Dave Van Acker from Quad City, Dena Slade and Brandon Kenific from Champaign County YMCA, Chandra Pecovsky from Gym South, and Patrick from World Class Gymnastics. Jaycie Phelps-McClure, Brett McClure and Jason Gatson also came with us and donated their time to help out the March of Dimes. It was a wonderful weekend weekend that raised money for a great cause.
