John and John became best friends through their training and travels with gymnastics. They have combined their passion for the sport and their desire to give back to younger gymnasts by joining forces for Flip Fest.
This year we had the chance to get to know Scott Cusiamano from Gymquarters in St. Louis. Scott has been a very successful coach for many years and has put many girls onto college teams around the country. Most notable is the current BIg 12 All-around Champion Emily Parsons, who attends the University of Nebraska.
We went in Saturday morning to watch the compulsory girls workout. They were all getting ready to compete in the State Meet that was going to be held the following weekend in Columbia, Missouri. John, Randy and I just floated around the gym and watched the girls do some routines and tried to fire them up for the next week. They looked great and I am sure they will have a great meet.
The highlight, at least for Macready, was that he was able to memorize each gymnasts name and tested himself at the end of workout. Upon exiting the gym there was sound like a balloon deflating as he promptly forgot every name he just learned. If you know John or I, you know what a big accomplishemnt it is to remember all those names. Even if it is just for a short time. We're getting better at it though. One of these years we will remember every campers name.
Once again Randy finished the day with a game of Shipwreck, which I thought for sure I could win, but didn't. Got beat by the old "Captains Coming". I am going to win one this summer I promise. We had a blast with all of you from Gymquarters and we hope to see some of you this summer. Good luck the rest of the season.
